Tuesday, August 2, 2011

Oral Presentations Begin on Wednesday, 8-3-11!

How will you be graded for your presentation? Look under the tab at the top of the blog: Final Project. Click the tab to find the checklist for grading. Victoria's helpful hint: PRACTICE! Repeat what you will say out loud to a friend, or to the mirror. Ask yourself: How is my speaking voice? Is it loud and clear? Will I look at the audience? Will I smile and look confident?

Everyone has an interesting topic, and good resources. We will see fantastic presentations tomorrow. Be ready!

HEADLINE NEWS: Classmate Injured, But Recovering!

On Monday, August 1, 2011, some of us attended a Redwings baseball game in Rochester. In a dramatic freak accident, Silvia was injured by a fast-moving baseball. Her lip was hurt, but her teeth are not damaged.  Carolina reported that Silvia went to the hospital, and returned to the dorm around 2:00am.  Poor Silvia! We are all sorry you got hurt, and wish you a speedy recovery! Your beautiful smile is now on a bruised but brave face. For those who don't know, Silvia came to class on Monday; what a strong woman she is!

On 7-20-11 some of us went kayaking on Irondequoit Creek.  We saw ducks, swans and dragonflies.  On the minus side, it was a very hot day. On the plus side, we saw no sharks or crocodiles. (Except in Liam's imagination.)  Thank you to Liam and Dan our drivers. We had a great time!
