The people who presented on Wednesday, 8-3-11, can now be seen on the video page. (Click the link that says Our Class Videos at the top of this page.) We had great topics, excellent speakers, gorgeous slideshows and videos, AND a salsa lesson. You all did a terrific job, thank you!  Thursday's speakers will be posted soon....
Please SHARE and send the address of our class blog and your blog to your friends and families! They want to know what you did over the last 3 weeks, don't they?

Thursday Night's Extreme Homework!

Please check out the website: They Draw and Travel (Click HERE) for many examples of maps with words and pictures. We call them annotated illustrated maps. They are personal and expressive, rather than accurate and exact. Get some ideas so you can create a map tomorrow.  Click on the maps below to enlarge.

Have a good night!

Tuesday, August 2, 2011

Oral Presentations Begin on Wednesday, 8-3-11!

How will you be graded for your presentation? Look under the tab at the top of the blog: Final Project. Click the tab to find the checklist for grading. Victoria's helpful hint: PRACTICE! Repeat what you will say out loud to a friend, or to the mirror. Ask yourself: How is my speaking voice? Is it loud and clear? Will I look at the audience? Will I smile and look confident?

Everyone has an interesting topic, and good resources. We will see fantastic presentations tomorrow. Be ready!

HEADLINE NEWS: Classmate Injured, But Recovering!

On Monday, August 1, 2011, some of us attended a Redwings baseball game in Rochester. In a dramatic freak accident, Silvia was injured by a fast-moving baseball. Her lip was hurt, but her teeth are not damaged.  Carolina reported that Silvia went to the hospital, and returned to the dorm around 2:00am.  Poor Silvia! We are all sorry you got hurt, and wish you a speedy recovery! Your beautiful smile is now on a bruised but brave face. For those who don't know, Silvia came to class on Monday; what a strong woman she is!
